Doorstep Market - Process

1.  Produce Box:  Boxes are available in two sizes; a Small Box for smaller families or a Large Box for a family of up to 6.  Each box includes:
   a.  Up to 10 seasonal fruits and vegetables
   b.  A farm newsletter with farm stories, tips and recipes
   c.  Any instructions for further orders
Additions to the box may include local jams, raw honey, organic herb plants, fresh cut flowers, fresh baked breads, local dairy products, etc.  Click here for a list of items included in the 2009 Season.

2.  Pricing and Payment:  Boxes are customizable.  Box prices vary depending on size and weekly additions.  The average price for a Small produce box is $25.00, but can range from $20.00 to $40.00 depending on how you customize your box.  An average Large box is $36.00 but can range from $30.00 to $50.00.  A $10.00 yearly enrollment fee is needed to cover the cost of boxes, processing and other supplies for the season.  All payments should be made online unless other arrangements have been made.  Cash or Check only at pick up.  Make checks payable to SMITH'S NURSERY INC.
**Please Note:  All customers picking up at Fairview Garden Center must pay for their boxes at the Fairview Garden Center cash register at time of pick up**

3.  Membership:  In order to become a member of the Doorstep Market you must be willing to pick up your box at your nearest neighborhood location.  Click here to register for your neighborhood location (no obligation until you place your first order).  Smith's Nursery is always willing to add new neighborhood locations.  In order to register your neighborhood as a pick up location we require the following:
  a.  Neighborhood Coordinator - One to two people who will make a commitment to be at the designated location each week during the pick up hours.  Coordinators should provide a cool, clean place for the produce boxes to be kept during the pick up hours..  Coordinators must be willing to openly communicate between their neighborhood members and Smith's Nursery each week.  Neighborhood Coordinators will receive a free produce box.
  b.  Neighborhood Location - This can be a home or garage, neighborhood clubhouse, cul-de-sac, place of business, or any other location approved by a Homeowner's Association or Smith's Nursery.
  c.  Neighborhood Members - Before a neighborhood can be registered as a pick up location a commitment and deposit must be received by at least 15 new members.
Once you have met these requirements you may contact the Doorstep Market Coordinator at doorstepmarket@upickberries.com  or (919) 934-1700 to register your location.

4Delivery:  Boxes will be delivered to your designated neighborhood location each week for pickup.  Boxes may be picked up at your neighborhood location during the allotted times.  Members should return all empty boxes and containers from the previous week.  Click HERE for your neighborhood schedule.

5.  Policies:  Members will receive weekly emails that include farm updates, a link to the order form and reminders of the weekly pickup time and locations.  If you decide to skip a week or just don't need more produce, just don't fill out the order form. When you are ready to place another order simply email your neighborhood coordinator and place a new order.  You  must allow at least 3 days for processing and harvesting.  Late orders may not be processed.  If you have ordered a box but are unable to pick up your produce during the designated time, please have a neighbor or friend pick up the order for you.
