Cold, dry winter winds can remove moisture from
the soil and from plant tissues very quickly.  Remember to water newly planted trees and
shrubs if it has been more than a week without  rain or if the soil around the plant is dry.
Watering just before a cold snap can help plants survive bitter temperatures!
