Deadhead your Spring
flowering bulbs when they have finished
blooming. Do not cut off the green foliage yet!
The green leaves will continue to grow for a few
weeks, and provide the bulb with energy for
flowering next year.
April is a great month to
prune evergreens. If you have Junipers,
Cypress or other conifers that need shearing
this is a good time to do it. Remove all
of the dead or undesirable wood but do not prune
back into the bare wood (main trunk) of the
plant.
Prune Forsythia after it
flowers if desired.
April is a great
time to select fruit trees such as
apples or figs and berry plants like
blueberries. Most fruiting
plants love full sun conditions.
