August 2004

Your summer annuals are tired
now…….just guessing :) so, why not cut them back and give them a shot of
fertilizer. Many will bloom again and keep you in color into the fall!
It is a good time to take a soil
sample to see what amendments will need to be made to the soil over the winter.
Mulch again, if necessary, to keep
plants from getting too hot and drying out.
Prune shrubs and trees
only out of necessity now—making cuts will
encourage new growth and the plants need to start preparing for winter.
Work outside only
in the cooler parts of the day and drink lots of water.
